What a sad day in ballroom!

Long time dance couple, Alexei Silde & Anna Firstova has retired from competitive ballroom!

I was pretty surprised to hear the news because it was only three months ago when they turned pro. At their last dance competition, "Vivat, Russia!" in Sochi, the pair won first placed and announced their retirement. The joy that Alexei and Anna brings on the dance floor is magical. Sad to see this pair leave after competing together for more than 10 years. I always felt that they had the potential to place in the top 6 couples in the Professionals.

Wish the couple best of luck in their retirement

  1. Thanks for posting the latest news in ballroom dance world as it is sometimes hard to find info. I really like the way you put the info and videos together! I wonder why they are retiring after just turning pro? I assume that they are a couple outside of dancing?

  2. Hello Niah,

Thank you for the nice compliments. I am speculating it might have something to do with the IDSF pro level vs. the WDC pro competitions. Alexei and Anna have only been able to compete in the IDSF level, which lacks any of the top ten pros in the world and people have been speculating that they didnt have any real competition on the dance floor. I hope they continue dancing either way.

let me know if you hear anything differently,
